Newsletter - May 3, 2009

Principal: Andrew Shih

  • The H1N1 flu (swine flu) is of great concern to every community.  So far, our school has not received any report of any actual cases from the Lexington Public School Administration office.  The additional document attached with this week’s newsletter email not only provides the latest status around the town, it also has many preventive tips.  Please take time to read it and alert your family members.  Any child with symptoms of illness should consult a physician before attending the school.  The school staff and teachers will immediately notify every family in case of any epidemic emergency.

  • Enrollment for the 2009-2010 school year will start on 5/10.  A hard copy of the registration form will be distributed to each student on 5/3.  A registration discount applies for enrollment by 6/14.  Please discuss any student placement issues with your child’s classroom teacher or the school staff.

  • A voting ballot for the Principal and Board members for the new school year will be distributed to each student on 5/3.  Please cast your ballot in the ballot box located in the office on 5/10.  The new principal candidate, Elaine Hsu, is currently our 9th Grade teacher.  Her in-depth teaching experience is greatly needed to lead the school in the new school year.  Ms. Celia Chu, one of our school parents, and Ms. Sue Chiu, past Principal, have kindly agreed to join the TCLS School Board in guiding every aspect of school operation.

  • The school plans to host an Open House event on May 17, 2:30–4:30PM, for potential new students.  If you have friends or children who are interested in visiting the school, please let them and the school staff know so that we can provide adequate resources for guided tours.

Vice Principal: Cho-Li Teng

Curriculum Director: Tung-Mei Pan

  • We have prepared hot tea for parents, teachers and staff to drink. Please drink it in the parents’ room and do not bring it into the classrooms. To prevent student injuries, we prohibit students from using the hot water in the corner of the office. Please have your children bring a water bottle or use the water fountain.

  • Please remind your child to bring his/her belongings home. For two weeks in a row, some TCLS students forgot to take their textbook and homework at the end of the Chinese class.

Bakery: Susan Bottan

Ensure that your favorite baked goods will be available to enjoy at school or at home by placing a pre-order each week. Order forms are found on the table in the back of the cafeteria. All sales proceeds are used to fund school events and activities. Payment is expected at the time your order is placed.  (Please see Susan Bottan for more information.)
