  • The School Directory has been distributed one per family. Please stop by at the office if your family has not received a copy yet. We would like to thanks especially to Su-Ju Chen (Board) and Jerry Shiau (Computer teacher) for their efforts in making this happen with the countless trips to solicit the ads and tremendous amount of time on editing and adjusting the layout.   

 

  • If you like the design of our new website, www.thechineselanguageschool.org, and wonder how it was launched in such a short time, Kevin Quan, will explain to you in the “Design Web/Blog with WordPress” seminar between 3:15 and 3:55 this Sunday in the Cafeteria.

 

  • We are in the process of preparing for the events of the Cultural day and the Chinese New Year celebration on 2/6 between 2:00 and 5:00pm. The events include food service, curriculum display, games, and performances. The food and prizes are all from donations. If you would like to share a signature dish or desert, please sign up with Su-Ju Chen (jshiau1@msn.com).  If you would like to donate a raffle prize, you could just bring it up to the office.We ask you to invite family and friends to have fun with us and all proceeds will be donated to the school.

 

  • Bakery items are sold in the cafeteria during recess.  Most items are priced at $1.25 or $1.50.  You may place special orders for baked goods by completing an order form.  Pease see Susan Bottan for details.

 

  • On New Year’s day, our YoYo teacher, Winson Dao, performed Lion Dance in the celebration for the 100th year of Republic of China, Taiwan. The picture above shows him and the proud parent, Yu-Chuan Kuo (Arts and Crafts teacher).

  • The parent duty of the period from November to February has been rescheduled. Please check the update here (http://www.thechineselanguageschool.org/docs/parent_duty.pdf).
  • Parents on duty should report to the Office (Room 243) at 1:45pm. If you cannot come, please contact Vice Principal, Celia Lee(508-337-6071,clee.tcls@gmail.com.).There is a $50 fine for absence without prior notice to the Vice Principal.

On March 13, the National Council of Associations of Chinese Language Schools (NCACLS) will offer a National Preparation Test for the 2011 SAT II Chinese exam.

Test Place: The Chinese Language School, 17 Stedman Rd, Lexington, MA 02421

We encourage all our 9th graders to take the test; it is voluntary for 7th and 8th graders.  Students wishing to take the practice test can register from now until February 6 with their teacher or in the office.  The registration fee is $10, payable to TCLS.

Scores will be available by April 30.  For further information, please come to the office.

 

2011 Bright Pearl Dance Festival

Time: 7pm on January 15, 2011

Place: Casey Theater, Regis College.

There will be more than 100 dancers performing Chinese Dance, Modern Dance and Ballet. You’ll see our Dance teacher in there too. Seating is limited and Tickets can be purchased from http://brightpearldance.org/PerformanceSchedule.aspx.
