From Principal Shawn Liu

  • The G6 class visited library last Sunday during the second session of the class. The G6 Teacher said it was a reward to the students after the speech contest. I saw a lot of exciting faces, despite the fact that the students were asked to turn in a reading report in the following week. I would like to thank to the G6 teacher, Annie Wu, for planning the visit, and the Librarian, Susan Tang, for gathering the books and setting up the display. See the pictures above.
  • The pictures of 2011 Class Photos, the Chinese New Year Celebration and more are now posted on Galleries. Many thanks to Kevin and Andrew for being the great photographers and Kevin for posting them on the website.
  • The registration for the New England Association of Chinese Schools (NEACS) contests has expired. We have 5 students entered for the Chinese Typing Contest and 3 students entered for the Yo-Yo contest. Best luck to all and hope they will have fun too.

  • The G6 had a speech competition last Sunday, 3/27. Student could either choose from a story of the idioms or write their own story. The stories presented are 黃粱一夢(Shake their dreams) , 指鹿為馬(confound right and wrong), 貪小失大(Runs the risk of), 鐵杵磨針 (possible with minded), 朝三暮四(Cheat or Undecided), 第一次參加葬禮 (first time going to funeral). Each student spent about 2 to 2 and a half minutes to recite the story. They all did a great job. Zoe Hsieh won the first place, Joseph Teng and Edward Lee shared the second place and Quanah Lawrence came in third.

  • The G8 and G9 students also had a Chinese Typing competition last Sunday, 3/27.  The first three places for G8 are Allen Li, Pei-Yun Chu, and Eric Hsu and the first three places for G9 are Rachel Shiau, Vincent Shiue, and Kairi Warford.  Many thanks to the computer teacher, Jerry Shiau, for setting up the laptops. Also thanks to the G8 teacher, Ching-Fen Hsiao, and the G8 teacher, Dai-Hua Shen, for making up the questions and hosting the contest.
